Erina Takahashi
Erina was born in Kushiro, Japan and started dancing at the age of three. She trained with Kushiro Ballet Acadey under Mrs Kou Yano and Jun Tamura. In June 1992 Erina won a Chubu Newspaper Company award at the Chubu all Japan ballet competition. In December 1992 she appeared in the all Hokkaido Ballet Festival in Sapporo and in July 1992 she appeared in the Young Ballet Festival in Nagoya. From 1993 she trained at English National Ballet School where she appeared in the International Dance Festival of La Baule, July 1994 and May 1995 she danced in Dance ’95 in Livorno Italy. In 1995 and 1996 she was the semi finalist at the Prix de Lausanne.
Erina joined English National Ballet in 1996, she was promoted to Principal in December 2000 and in 2001 was awarded ‘Best Female Newcomer’ by Critics Circle Dance Awards. Erina was promoted to Senior Principal in January 2007 and has danced many major roles including Manon, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Giselle, Cinderella, Copellia, Nutcracker, Etudes, La Bayadere, Raymonda, Paquita, Double Concerto (Chistopher Hampson), Square Dance, Who Cares, (The Chosen one) Rite of spring, Snow Queen, Apollo, Million Kisses (David Dowson), Voluntaries, Les Sylphide, Tchaikovski Pas de Deux, Pas de Deux Don Quiote and Le Corse, Impromtu (Derek Deane), Perpituum Mobile (Christopher Hampson), Alice an Wonderland (Derek Deane).
Erina created both Aurora in Derek Deane’s Sleaping Beauty at the Royal Albert Hall and Clara in Christopher Hampson’s Nutcracker.
Erina has performed all over the word in Galas including Miami, Japan, Spain, Biraritz, Portugal, Houston, Italy.
She has guested with Australian Ballet, and Croatia National Ballet.
